Duties: Conduct the one-hour morning census.
Requirements: Be able to identify the majority of birds by both by sight and sound (Class 1 observer, defined as being able to identify more than 75% of species). In order to ensure the smooth running of our protocol, we are very strict on the knowledge required to allow a new volunteer to be a census taker.
The McGill Bird Observatory is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
